What's the applicability of the Vantage 12 product?

Vantage 12 was designed to replace Entegra systems in early Cirrus SR2X aircraft. The STC covers aircraft that were delivered with both a PFD and MFD. Some dealers are working on coverage for earlier aircraft.

Can I buy only one Vantage 12 display?

Not at this time.

Is my Columbia/Lancair/Piper/Extra aircraft with Entegra installed a candidate for a Vantage 12 installation?

The AML for the Vantage 12 STC only covers Cirrus SR2X aircraft at this time. We’ve had a number of requests to expand the STC coverage.

What if I've already upgraded from Entegra to R9?

You have a great product that shares a lot with Vantage! We don't have any information yet but stay tuned. There have been numerous requests.

What if I replaced my GNS navigators with GTN navigators?

The Vantage 12 installation requires Avidyne IFDs. GTN navigators don't share the data we need.

What engine instruments does Vantage 12 use?

Vantage 12 interfaces with the factory Moritz SIU or DAU delivered with the aircraft.

Does Avidyne have a plan for addressing the aging engine instruments? They're hard to repair or buy on the second-hand market?

We’ve had a significant number of requests to provide long term support for the engine instruments.

Can I display both XM and ADS-B (FIS-B) weather on the Vantage 12 MFD?

Not yet. Stay tuned.

What's different about Vantage 12 from my Entegra system?

  • 40% more pixels and square inches of display, standard dual ARS, and 3D Synthetic Vision are the standouts
  • Excellent integration with the Avidyne IFDs for flight management functions
  • Full hybrid-touch experience

What's the difference between the two Vantage 12 displays?

The PFD is a full-time PFD. There are a few options to change how things are displayed, but not what is displayed. The MFD can take the role of the PFD by pressing the PFD button, but can also display maps, charts, and engine data, perform flight planning, or numerous other activities.

How long does it take to install Vantage 12?

While this varies by dealer, we expect the installation to be able to be completed in less than a week if the airplane already has the IFDs and DFC90. Since Avidyne is supplying a new panel and the EZ adapter system, most of the wiring is plug-and-play to the factory harnesses. We have a recommended configuration that includes an Avidyne audio panel, IFD540, IFD440, DFC90 and a remote transponder and ADS-B in system and we are providing dealers a great deal of information to allow them to complete the recommended installation quickly, as well as removing a significant amount of minor equipment and wiring that is no longer required. Ask you dealer about getting your aircraft to our recommend configuration!

Can I get a second magnetometer or air data computer?

Yes! Due to popular demand, Avidyne has made a redundancy package available which includes both a second magnetometer and second air data computer.

What warranty does the Vantage 12 have? Are extended warranty options available?

Vantage 12 comes with a standard 2-year warranty. Extended warranty is not available.

How redundant is the Vantage 12 system?

The displays are constantly cross-checking attitude and will alert the pilot if there's a discrepancy. If the pilot selects the redundancy package option, this cross-check is extended to airspeed, altitude and heading. If the display detects a fault in a sensor, it will automatically look at the cross-side sensor. If the pilot identifies a faulty sensor, they can isolate it and allow the whole system to operate off the operational sensor. Additionally, the DFC90 is connected to both the PFD and MFD. In the event of a PFD failure, the MFD will take over seamlessly.

Do I have to buy the panel and overlay from Avidyne?

It's highly recommended to purchase the metal panel from Avidyne due to the critical nature of the geometry. There are 4 different versions that should be able to cover or be customized for virtually any Cirrus. If you want to put a custom overlay on that panel, or power coat it, or paint it, while it isn't covered by our STC, we can't wait to see it!
