AVIDYNE ANNOUNCES FAA CERTIFICATION OF ATLAS™ MULTIFUNCTION FLIGHT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR BUSINESS AVIATION

Avidyne has certified the Atlas multifunction flight management system in the Cessna Citation 560XL, Excel and XLS models. The easy-to-use Avidyne Atlas™ touch screen navigator provides a full-color display of moving map, weather, traffic, approach charts & airport diagrams, integrated wireless connectivity, and extensive I/O including Avidyne’s unique GLAS technology for seamless integration with a wide-range of EFIS systems for SBAS/LPV approach capability.

Melbourne, Florida  – May 10, 2021 – Avidyne Corporation, a leading provider of integrated avionics systems, displays, and safety systems for general aviation and business aircraft, announced receipt of Technical Standard Order (TSO) and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for installation of their dzus-mounted Avidyne Atlas multifunction flight management system (FMS) in Cessna Citation 560XL, Excel, and XLS models. TSO approval also allows MRO facilities to begin performing their own STCs and installations in turbine-class aircraft.

“Certification of the Avidyne Atlas is a huge step forward in FMS capability for turbine-class aircraft, and a big leap forward for our company as we continue our growth into the turbine markets,” said Avidyne CEO Dan Schwinn. “We’ve targeted Atlas as an FMS replacement specifically for console-equipped jet operators to provide a highly-capable navigation and flight management solution that pilots will find incredibly easy to use.”

“Avidyne Atlas gives our customers a powerful new option when upgrading their GPS/FMS navigation capabilities, especially in turbine-class aircraft with older-generation EFIS displays where options have been limited,” said John Talmadge, Avidyne’s Vice President of Worldwide Sales.

“We have been working closely with several key MRO partners to identify platforms for additional Atlas STCs which will be forthcoming,” added Dan Reida, Avidyne’s Director of Business Aviation.

About Avidyne Atlas™

The Avidyne Atlas flight management system is a dzus-mount GPS/SBAS flight management system that meets TSO-C146c for full SBAS/LPV approach guidance, and is an approved GPS position source for ADS-B.  Avidyne Atlas features easy-to-use flight planning, one-touch departure, airway, and arrival navigation, and Avidyne’s patented GeoFill™ waypoint nomination.  The Avidyne Atlas features a full QWERTY-style keyboard along with touch-screen hybrid touch user interface that provides easy map panning and rubber-band flight plan editing.  Its extensive I/O is designed to integrate with existing equipment in the aircraft including a long list of EFIS, PFDs, CDIs, HSIs, remote sensors, and autopilots, and it is also an approved ADS-B GPS position source with numerous transponders.  Avidyne’s GPS Legacy Avionics Support (GLAS™) provides a direct interface to legacy Collins Proline 21 and Honeywell Primus EFIS systems for vertical guidance during approach operations. This unique integration capability enables EFISs certified before the availability of LPV approaches to have coupled approach guidance on these and other SBAS approaches.
