Grand Prize winner will receive a new IFD540 GPS/NAV/COM with Hybrid Touch user interface, valued at $16,995; Avidyne launches a new “Extravaganza Giveaway” for aircraft owners who register through Sun n Fun 2013.

Lincoln, MA – Tuesday, August 21, 2012 – Avidyne Corporation, a leading provider of integrated avionics and safety systems for general aviation aircraft, today announced that Mr. John Seubert of Memphis, Tennessee  is the grand prize winner of Avidyne’s “FlySafe™ Giveaway Extravaganza” promotion.  Mr. Seubert, who owns a Beechcraft Bonanza F33A, will be receiving a new IFD540 GPS/NAV/COM, once certified. The IFD540 is valued at $16,995.

“This is great! I have been watching Avidyne for a while, and I am really excited with their recent plug and play retrofit avionics announcements,” said Mr. Seubert. “As a current 530 and 430 owner, I am really looking forward to upgrading my panel without all the added installation costs, and I am also intrigued with their DFC90 as an upgrade to my Century autopilot.”

“Congratulations to John and thanks to all of those who signed up for our Giveaway Extravaganza promotion,” said Patrick Herguth, Avidyne’s Chief Operating Officer.  “This wide-reaching promotion continues to connect us with many aircraft owners, and to spread the word about the innovative, plug-and-play panel-mounted avionics we are bringing into the market.”

This is the third FlySafe Giveaway Extravaganza promotion by Avidyne, which is aimed specifically toward aircraft owners. Mr. Seubert was randomly chosen from all the qualified Extravaganza contest entrants acquired at Trade Shows and via the Avidyne website since January 2012.  The first was launched in April at Sun n’ Fun 2011, with the initial grand prize announced after Oshkosh 2011.  The Extravaganza 2 promotion was launched shortly thereafter, with the winner announced in January 2012.

A new FlySafe Giveaway Extravaganza promotion was launched today that runs through Sun n’ Fun 2013. The Grand Prize for this promotion is Avidyne’s recently-announced IFD440 FMS/GPS/NAV/COM.

Aircraft owners can view contest rules and register on line at: http://www.avidyne.com/extravaganza. Avidyne will also be accepting registrations at many of the upcoming aviation trade shows including AOPA Summit 2012, NBAA 2012, and Sun N Fun  2013.

About the IFD440 & IFD540

The IFD440 and IFD540 feature Hybrid Touch displays, along with the same powerful navigation, communication, and multi-function display capability as found in Avidyne’s award-winning Entegra Release 9 Integrated Flight Deck systems.

Like the IFD540, the IFD440 has a highly-capable, easy-to-use Flight Management System (FMS) that meets TSO-C146c for full SBAS/LPV approach guidance, plus the accuracy and integrity required to meet AC20-165 for ADS-B position reporting. Both systems feature easy-to-use flight planning with ‘one-touch’ victor airway and jet-route navigation, GeoFill™ waypoint nomination, and FMS Vectors™ capability.

Both systems feature 10-watt, 8.33 kHz, two-channel VHF communication radios—with an option for 16 Watts—with automatic frequency nomination and one-touch frequency list tuning. Active and Standby COM frequencies are automatically decoded and the names of the stations are displayed in plain English, for easy station recognition and as a handy reminder for pilots of the agency they will be communicating with when pressing the push-to-talk button.  These radios also provide four-channel VHF NAV/VLOC with automatic tuning, identification, and monitoring capability.

The IFD440 and IFD540 also include Terrain Awareness and Alerting as standard.  The IFD540 has an option for integrated Class-B TAWS functionality.

About Plug & Play

The IFD440 and IFD540 are plug-and-play replacements for the GNS430/W and GNS530/W respectively.  They are designed to support all of system interfaces used by existing GNS430/530s, including a long list of PFDs, EFIS, CDIs, HSIs, remote sensors, discrete, autopilots, MFDs, etc.  Because they are the same physical size as the 430 and 530 respectively, they fit into the same trays, use the same antennas, and in most cases can be installed with no wiring changes, making for incredibly easy and affordable retrofits for any general aviation aircraft.   In addition to the IFD440 and IFD540, Avidyne offers a complete line of panel-mounted plug and play avionics including the AMX240 Audio panel, the AXP340 Mode S Transponder with ADS-B Out, and the DFC90 digital autopilot with Envelope Protection (EP™) and Envelope Alerting (EA™).
