Download the current obstacle database to a FAT32 formatted USB fob. Use a fob supplied by Avidyne (marked by the Avidyne logo printed on one side). In the event you no longer have an Avidyne fob available, either call Avidyne for a replacement fob (a nominal fee will be charged) or purchase a replacement through other means. Acceptable alternatives are drives between 1-8 GB, manufactured by PNY (http://www3.pny.com/homepage.aspx).
Insert the USB fob into the IFD USB slot. When the IFD is powered up, select the “Setup” tab of the SYS page and then pick the “Update Databases” LSK. You will be prompted to “Confirm” or “Cancel”. Assuming you selected “Confirm”, you should see a dialog box presented in the middle of the screen and all uploadable files on that fob will be individually listed and check marks may be visible next to each file name. Use the “Select All”, “Un-select All” LSKs and the MFD knob as required to ensure check marks are associated with all the desired files to upload to the IFD. Now press the “Proceed” LSK to begin the file upload.
The obstacle database must be loaded on BOTH IFDs. The currency of the newly loaded obstacle data can be verified on the "Setup" tab of the "SYS" page on both IFDs.
