West Star Aviation is one of the premier full service FBOs in the US, and when Jim Pommier, an avionics sales manager at their location in Grand Junction, Colorado, says that the company does it all, he isn’t kidding.
“We’re basically a one-stop shop. We do paint, interior and avionics maintenance for all different aircraft – Falcons, Citations, Hawkers, Learjets. And we’re big on Conquest IIs. We’re doing the Avidyne Alliant package right now on two aircraft, and it looks like we have another three also coming in [for an Alliant retrofit]. It’s a great retrofit for the Conquest II. It’s going to be a real good program for Avidyne and West Star.”
Alliant brings the Conquest back to the future.
“It just a beautiful package. It really brings the airplane into the new millennium.
Autopilot, glass panel retrofit, the customer will love it. It definitely cleans [the panel] up. With a new interior, it’s a pretty airplane. And Conquest drivers, they just love their airplanes. They can fill ‘em up, short field runways… they love ‘em.”
RVSM – High performance, high altitude, high technology.
West Star is partnering with Avidyne for RVSM certification of the Alliant package in the Conquest II.
“Because the Conquest can fly at 35,000 feet, we’re doing the RVSM STC, and with that STC in hand, Conquest drivers are going to look at this package [and know it’s] going to be the way to go.”
Conquest owners and pilots know that when it comes to the maintenance and support of their aircraft, West Star is very well regarded.
“We’ve been working on Cessna Conquests for many, many years and most of our customers know that West Star is deeply involved in the Conquest. We’ve installed Avidyne equipment in basically all types of aircraft – Learjets, Citations, Hawkers, and pilots are extremely satisfied with the equipment. Avidyne’s equipment is top notch.”
Owners are investing significantly in their Conquest aircraft.
“We’ve got a Conquest where the owner actually put almost a million dollars into it. He did everything, a total retrofit – glass panels flight displays, paint, interior, all avionics; it’s just a beautiful airplane.”
Pommier has a long personal history with Avidyne.
“I’ve been working with Avidyne products for probably 10 or 12 years. I started out doing installations and moved up to avionics sales. Their equipment has always been top notch. I’ve always been extremely satisfied with their products. And customers also really love the equipment. I was extremely pleased to hear Mark Bunce comment on how much he really liked his new Alliant system. He thought the pilot interface is just perfect and I can tell he’s going to be extremely pleased with it.”
Pommier finds Avidyne products an easy sell.
“A lot of time with customers, I’ll take them out to airplanes that already have the systems installed, let them sit down and go through the system. Avidyne products, like their EX500 multifunction displays and now the Avidyne Alliant package, it’s just an easy sell. All I have to do is get a customer in and looking at the equipment and usually I’ve got somebody very interested.”
To West Star Aviation, Avidyne represents top quality equipment and solid company support. Indeed, West Star stakes their reputation on each Alliant retrofit.
