Lincoln, MA – Thursday, June 12, 2014 –

Avidyne Corporation, a leading provider of integrated avionics and safety systems for general aviation aircraft, announced today that their new IFD540 FMS/GPS/NAV/COM Free Play Simulator for the Apple iPad® is now available through the App Store at no charge.

Using the iPad or through an iTunes account, customers can download either the Americas or International version of the IFD540 simulator.  Each version of the IFD540 simulator includes a full regional database of airports and charts, allowing pilots to get familiar with the user interface and operation of the IFD540 in the region and specific airports to which they fly.

“We have had a tremendous amount of interest in our new IFD540, and this free-play simulator allows pilots to become more familiar with the system and all its functionality,” said Patrick Herguth, Avidyne’s Chief Operating Officer. “We are pleased to be able to offer this simulator at no-charge so that any potential buyers can see for themselves just how easy it is to use the IFD540.”

Apple iPad users can perform virtually all IFD540 product functions including flight planning, mapping, configuration, and frequency management via the iPad touchscreen.  With a WiFi internet connection, users of the Americas version can receive live “datalink” WSI weather while ‘flying’ in the Continental US region.  For more information, go to http://www.avidyne.com/products/ifd540/ipad-app.asp.

In addition to the iPad App, a PC-based version of the IFD540 Free Play simulator is also available for free download from the Avidyne website.  Download the Americas or International Version of the IFD540 simulator for FREE at http://www.avidyne.com/products/ifd540/demo-sim-signup.asp.
